Last played game issue

Why when you look at the Last Played Game from within GameEx menu on MAME games it always shows the themes background on the picture, but other emulator or game pictures it doesn't?

For example: Donkey Kong the backgroubd is black, but under the LPG option it is the color of my theme which is blue so it looks very strange. All MAME games turn out this way.
