Hey guys,

I was in New York during the holidays and I went to a karaoke bar with my girlfriend one night. I really liked that you were able to put reverb on the mic so it doesnt sound as harsh and direct when you sing into it.

Now i'm looking for a simple tool that will add a bit of reverb to my cabinet microphone. its a standard mic connected to the mic input of the soundcard.

i googled for a tool that would let me do that but didnt really find a simple solution.

does anyone know of a tool to add reverb (or other effects) to a microphone?

also, is there a way to add a bit of gain to the mic even if its on full volume already? maybe like a cheap pre-amp... do you guys have any suggestions? a usb device would be great!

hey chriss

did you ever find anything for this? i've been looking for a while for this feature but can't seem to find it.

please let me know. otherwise, i think i'm going to need to look at rack-based-audio options, which is more than i'd like to do.

there is a way... you can use audiorepeater!

it doesnt work too well in conjunction with gameex though. frequency wrote a wrapper to have the program only turn on when i'm in the karaoke section in gameex. but we had some serious issues with losing focus of gameex.. i basically needed that so the mics wont be on all the time since i dont have a button to switch them off...

but if your mic can be switched on and off manually then you could just start audiorepeater with the computer!

What audiorepeater does is just echoing your signal. you need a quite fast pc with it (dual core) but then it works quite good. i hope it doesnt take away processing power when its running without processing your mic input. so please check this out and report back!

audiorepeater is part of the virtual audio cable package. just download it here (audiorepeater is not limited even if vac is a trial)

if you have any questions regarding the settings jsut ask me again. i think i had it set to 96 khz and the buffer size was quite low, like 50 or something. i could look that up for you!

Anyways,

I decided that I'll just get a hardware solution for karaoke because audiorepeater crashed during a karaoke session on my cab (after a few hours and possibly because it was launched 2 times). Anyway, I had to pull out the keyboard and fix it which was a bit annoying, especially when you have friends over! so i'll just buy the behringer minimix 800! it costs around 50 bucks and gives you two mic inputs and a reverb controller!
