Ok, I need help getting LEDBlinky working with GameEX. Ok, here is the story, I got a console premade and the guy who made it uses MaLa. It has the blinking LEDS. So I have it completly working with that MaLa. My frontend is GameEX. So i'm trying to get the console working with that frontend.

I get no lights whatsoever and most of the keys don't work.

Here is what I did so far:

I Unzipped the LEDBlinky files into the GameEx plugins folder. Plugin specific files (LEDBlinky.mplugin, LEDBlinky.atoplug, LEDBlinky.plugcfg, LEDBlinky_GX.dll) are put in the plugins folder. All other LEDBlinky support and configuration files reside in the LEDBlinky folder below the plugins folder.

I then configured LEDBlinky based on the documentation (FE)

I get nothing. I was givin 2 files a DevicePort-Input and a default file when I use MaLa and was told to copy them into thee MaLa and mame folders.

Any one have any ideas to try, I tried everything I can think of.

I don't think there is anyone on the forum who uses LedBlinky with GameEX. Most people use HK's LCD/LED Plugin version 2.86 . I'm not trying to promote HK's plugin over Arzoo's. I'm simply saying you'd get better support on this forum if you used HK's. Otherwise i'd post your problem on Arzoo's LEDBlinky post over at BYOAC.

You can't use the MaLa LEDBlinky plugin (LEDBlinky.mplugin) in GameEx because it was designed for MaLa. Anyway LEDBlinky is now a standalone application that is used is several different FE's. But having said that you really are better off using the PluginLCD written by me because it has more features for GameEx (including event based animations and per game configuration). Most of the features in LEDBlinky are in my plugin including some that arn't (although I highly respect the author and talk to him on a regular bases and he uses several components written by me)

Another thing to consider is both PluginLCD and LEDBlinky don't support the LED board that was made specifically for MaLa. So you will have to check what LED controller board your using. If you can get me the technical info for controlling it I might be able to add support for it.

How hard is it to set up the Game Ex LED plugin to work with emulators other than Mame?

You can do all that under the configuration program. Click on the "Profile Editor" tab and there will be a drop down list with every emulator you have installed in GameEx. Select one and it will list all the games and you can configure the LED's for each game.

Most emulators use the same buttons anyway so you can just set up the "Default" profile for each system and use that or you can set up custom LED's for a game. If you don't have a profile set for a game then it will use the default profile for that system.

Ok, thanks guys.

I'm new to all this and since I didn't set it up to beguin with I really don't know what is involved. Having said that I don't care what plugin I use as long as I can get GameEX to work with my hardware. I looked in the console and it seems tyo be using the LED-Wiz+GP and the KeyWiz40-ST. So what will work with that? Anything?

Headkaze: I would love to try your plugin, do you have a link to it?

Goto the plug in section under start menu / programs / game ex / plugins

Then Tick LCD/LED Plugin and configure.

thats all there is to it ...

Ok, so I'm starting over and using GameEX and headkaze LCD plugin.

This is what I have done so far:

1. Select Start->Programs->GameEx->Plugin Manager

2. Make sure there is a tick next to LCD/LED Plugin

3. Hilight it by clicking on it then click Configure

4. Go to the LED Input Map page

5. Now you need to match all your inputs with how you have wired them up for your CP

the LED lights up when I do this, I click save. When I run GameEx I am getting random LED lights like I am suppose to.

when I select a mame game there are no lights. I looked at the log file and there are no errors.

What am I doing wrong?

Here are a few things to check:

- Make sure you have downloaded the latest version from the forum here. Copy the contents of the zip file into the GameEx\PLUGINS folder.

- Make sure your Input Codes in the LED Input Map match those you have set in Mame

- Make sure your mame.ini file is located in Mame's root folder and not in the cfg folder

- Have you setup a default GameEx profile under "Profile Editor". You should at least have that one profile setup with all the buttons State's set to true and the ones you always want lit set to "Always Active".

- To test the lights are working for games you should be able to select MAME from the system list in the Profile Editor and scroll through games with each game lighting it's buttons correctly. If it's not there is probably a configuration issue.

- Make sure you have "Light Game Buttons in List" enabled in Options 1

Post your PlugInLCD.log and PlugInLCD.ini if your still having problems.

Hi,

thanks for the response.

Here is what I have tried:

Make sure you have downloaded the latest version from the forum here. Copy the contents of the zip file into the GameEx\PLUGINS folder. (DONE)

- Make sure your Input Codes in the LED Input Map match those you have set in Mame (SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM)

- Make sure your mame.ini file is located in Mame's root folder and not in the cfg folder (IT IS)

- Have you setup a default GameEx profile under "Profile Editor". You should at least have that one profile setup with all the buttons State's set to true and the ones you always want lit set to "Always Active". (YES, ONLY SETUP A FEW KEYS TO SEE IF IT WORKS)

- Make sure you have "Light Game Buttons in List" enabled in Options 1 (YES)

Post your PlugInLCD.log and PlugInLCD.ini if your still having problems. (DONE)

Note: Not trying to be stupid here but I didn't setup the mame folder. The folder was already setup when I got the console so I don't know which setting you are referring to and maybe thats the problem.

I have attached the 2 files

You havn't downloaded the latest version correctly because you are using PlugInLCD version 2.83 yet the latest version is 2.86.

Also if you don't have the Mame path correctly set then most certainly the games won't light correctly. The plugin gets it's info from the Mame executable.

Check the paths in the PlugInLCD configuration under the "Options 2" tab. Make sure Exe, Cfg, Ctrlr & Ini are set correctly. Also don't just set a few LED's to test as that will most likely cause problems as well.

If your still having problems please post your LEDInputMap.ini and Profiles\GameEx.ini from the PlugInLCD folder.

I checked the paths they are correct. I also upgraded to version to 2.86. I entered the rest of the inputs in the config. I also set a few to be always lit. I wasn't sure which ones I should be setting on that so I only did a few like start and credit.

I am getting those buttons lit now but as I toggle through the games something I get a button or two but thats about it. So what actually tells what lights for each game?

I have attached the two files in a zip. Sorry I'm new to this but we are almost there.

Hmm why are there input codes like MOUSECODE_{0}_BUTTON1? They should be MOUSECODE_1_BUTTON1 etc. How did you enter those in? They should be selectable from the drop down list but there should be numbers not {0}?? This was a recent update I made so there could be bugs but that just seems really strange to me. I couldn't enter the codes like that??

That being said the main problem I see is your GameEx profile. You need to edit that and turn the "State" to ON for all of your buttons, that should fix that. I also have my coin and player buttons set to "Always Lit" so it's no problem to keep them that way.

Not sure how the Mousecode got set to that, it was in the drop down, I changed them to MOUSECODE_1_BUTTON1, etc.

I did change them all to State ON and set the coin and player to always lit but I still only get 2 buttons that light when I toggle through the games. I think they are rotate left and rotate right. Where does it get the information on which buttons are lite for which games? Maybe thats the problem.
