Exiting all games with the Joystick

I know I need to make or edit an Advanced Config File, but how do I then use it.

I looked at the [MAPPING OFF] Exit (Esc).ini file and changed changed this section:

JoymappingEnabled=TRUE

	Left=TRUE
	up=TRUE
	Right=
	Down=
	Button1=TRUE
	Button2=TRUE
	Button3=TRUE
	Button4=TRUE
	Button5=
	Button6=
	Button7=
	Button8=
	Button9=
	Button10=
	Button11=
	Button12=

But that doesn't do anything. How do I actually utilize these advanced config files?

Make sure you are working on the [GAMEPADEXIT] section.

Use the GameEx Advanced Config Editor written by headkaze when dealing with these files. Makes things so much easier to deal with. A tutorial is going up on this new tool, I just have been sick and haven't got to it yet. It will up early in the week. Open up this tool in GameEx Setup Wizard by clicking on the button next to the dropdown list in the Advanced Config section. Then go to the Game Pad Exit tab and edit as needed. So based off your post it seems you want the following to exit: Left, Up, Button1, Button2, Button3, Button4. If this is correct then you should be able to exit your emulator using these buttons.

Yeah I'll really appreciate that when it goes up because right now it's all very confusing how this advanced config stuff works. And then there's the fact that MAME is set up differently from other emulators to make things more confusing. :0

It's easy to change input settings in Mame. Use the Tab key to enter the menu, then select Input (General) to change global settings (to be used in every game). To change the settings for one game, use Input (This Game)

I've looked through the mame options, but I can't find where I set the button to exit the program. The best I could find was UI cancel.

That would be what you're lookin for. UI Cancel is what's used to exit MAME.

Oh yeah I tried it again and got it working. Sorry about that, I must have put the inputs in wrong the first time. Thank you. Still looking forward to that guide, but I think I'm all set for now.
