I did have a brief look at adding this to GameEx a couple of months ago, but it looked quite tricky, so left it for a while.

Ah ok, so I'm not missing something when I can't find UPnP support in GameEx. Besides trying to incorporate it myself into the codebase, would anyone recommend using say Windows Media Player or Winamp along side GameEx?

My real concern is that when you launch an external app from GameEx, you lose the joystick/remote control input. I would like this to be at least somewhat seamless and use the remote the whole time.

I have the PlayOn server running so I can watch my Netflix movies through my PS3. But I want to have that work for my GameEx computer as well. I know it sounds funny having a server (that is a computer) serve files to a HTPC (that is a computer) when everything is already served through the web anyway.

But the HTPC is pretty low powered and the PlayOn server provides a nice frontend for everything (including other video sites) and it needs to transcode all the videos on the fly (thus the server has a healthy bit of power behind it).

Thanks for the quick replies.

Maybe its something I can put out to tender for someone, and get a library done of some sort. I did see there were quite a few GPL'd libs already out there, and I guess I need to build a wrapper library on top of one of those.

Ill look into some more when I have more time. It is something I would like GameEx to do.

If you were able to put this into GameEx, I would believe it to be the best HTPC application.

When I was in college I made something like this, but as time went on I ran out of ambition. When I stumbled on this app, I realize someone else was thinking the same thing I was.

Of course now that I see it, I want more ;)

I'll keep my eye on the project for any updates. I look forward to future developments!
