Support yet for FLV game previews?

Good question. I was wondering about this myself. It would make life easier for users of both frontends.

I was just thinking about this myself. I found a bunch of retro commercials that I was thinking of using as intro movies to GameEx, but they are in FLV format.

Actually, does anyone know of a good place to find retro commercials? I'm hoping to find somewhere around 20-30 commercials from the 80's-90's ... 'ish. Any thoughts?

I thought Circo has a good few of them (maybe on Emumovies site or ftp). Not sure what has me thinking that but it would be worth checking.

Yeah you'll want to check out EMUMovies for those, pay for FTP access, it's well worth it.

So yeah, FLV support would be great as I run another Front End as well that only uses FLV videos.

I know there was talk about FLV support here before so I am not sure what the current status is...???

It does support them assuming codecs are correct.

Since what version and can you tell us what the "correct codec" is please?

I remember trying this shortly after it was added the first time and it did not work. I know my FLVs play ok because I can click on them and they play, they also play in my other FE just fine, they just don't play in Game Ex.

Thanks.

Since 9.77. FFDSHOW should be fine, although I had issues with some builds, but if they play in WMP it should be good.

It supports MAME videos and "direct" matching of rom name for emulators, and also for movie/videos. I didnt implement fuzzy matching for performance reasons, as I expect most people will want to use the HIQ AVI's anyway.

Ahhh, I was wondering about that. Fuzzy match doesn't work for my videos and I wasn't sure why. I'll just have to run my stuff through Stu's Fuzzy Match tool then. Good to know!

Hmmm... I tried it again this morning before I left for work and it did not work for me. I am using FLV files from EMUMovies for HyperSpin. They work fine in HS but not in Game Ex, have only tried the Mame ones so far.

Ideas?

Tom GameEx can play flv's it just doesn't seem to recognise the flv entension. If I rename them to avi they play fine. This was reported a while ago so I don't know if you fixed that or not.

If they play in Hyperspin that does not mean anything useful. Like I said if they play in WMP they should work. You no listen!

They play in Winamp and not in Media Player. I am taking it then that I need to update my Codec and it should work?

GameEx uses the same system to play videos as WMP. If it plays in there, the video can play in GameEx as long as Tom has it set to filter for the correct file extensions.

I guess the problem is then I can't get them to play in WMP.

They play in Winamp and HyperSpin but they don't play in WMP or Game Ex.

I tried instaling this:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Vi...omponents.shtml

That did not fix it, so I uninstall it and installed this:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDshow.htm

That did not fix it either... So I really have no clue how to get FLV's to play in WMP. =[

Add this one to the list as well...

http://www.codecguide.com/klcp_64bit.htm

***UPDATE***

I finally got it to work with the following pack in Vista 64.

http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite...ll/1094057842/3

^^^That one works!

Pretty sure that was the second one I tried or a varation of it, I remember that shark when I installed it.

I mean do you really think it's going to make a difference? I was told if the FLV's played in WMP they would work ok in Game Ex...??? Sure they work in Game Ex and they cause it to crash...
