Hey all!

I am really exited finding out this front end!

I am going to donate also when i finish my exams and find some time to configure it!

I have though one question.

Many of my roms are 7-zipped.

i.e. N64 roms and Sega CD.

Project 64 doesn't play the 7-zipped roms just like Fusion for Sega CD.

Is there a way of unzipping them just for playing them (temporary) and in Sega CD's case also mounting them?

Just for playing them and after that deleting the unzipped version or sth like that.

Thanks a lot in advance.

There isn't any other option?

Launch before / Launch after?

As i said i will donate because i love that frontend.

Could anyone provide me with some more info on how gameex supports 7zipped?

Yeah you are right!

The only thing i would like to learn about is how it is accomplished!

I mean is compatible with everysingle emulator?

Does it delete the files after unzipping them?

That kind of info!

As i've already said i am going to donate.

I am not a cheap ass and admire the work you've done!

There are no known issues or bugs with it currently that have been reported. There are also no current feature requests for the feature that I am aware of, other than one to extract the files to the windows temp folder instead of the emulator rom folder. Performance is implemented so it only extracts the whole archive when you actually launch, and it does tidy up files after itself. Compatibility generally is down to configuration. I am not aware of any compaibiliy issues for particular emulators, but it is possible I guess.

So I assume generally it works very well, and most folks are happy with it.

What else do you need to know?

Thanks a lot for ur reply!

One little question:

What if we have isos (images in general which acquire also mounting) inside 7-zip or zip format.Does gameex manages them also?

My only concern is if it is going to work because most of my roms are zipped or 7-zipped! ;-)

It should do if configured right.

This is how it works....

1.You enable 7zip support per the emulator options in gameex.

2.Gameex will scan the folder (on the fly) and show you the contents of the 7zip files. Eg lunar.iso

3.You choose the game you want and gameex will unzip the archive in a temp folder.

4.Once the extraction is complete the emulator will launch and run the game from the temp folder.

5.Once you exit the game, Gameex will delete the temp folder and return back to the game list.

Things to keep in mind.. Some 7zip archives are rather large, Thus it may take a little time to extract. This will add a little overhead to the whole process. It is best to do this with smaller rom sets.. Nes,snes etc.. those roms are ususally 2mb-5mb

While it does work with the 650mb isos Id just suggest buying a larger HD as they are dirt cheap and stick to performance.

:)

Gameex does support ISO mounting and you could always have deamontools configured as the emulator as it will mount the selected ISO and in launch after run the REAL emulator as then its mounted.

We here are pretty crafty :)
