does anyone know of a program that can make lnk files from exe files ?

what i would like to do is

point the program at a folder and sub folders and make lnk files for every exe file and then copy all lnk files to one folder

anyone know of anything that could do this?

i need to make shortcuts for over 2000 files and doing this by hand would take forever

I dont know of any software like that, but you can try this method: (Its a bit basic though!)

How about just doing a search for .exe files within the game folders, right click the results and drag then select 'create shortcuts' in your new folder.

Then use a renaming bit of software to delete the 'exe' and 'shortcut' from the filenames.

if i right click and click create short cut windows will still only do one file at a time

have not tried it in windows 7 yet

could anyone test on xp as i have vista 64 bit

I havent used it before, but i would try the remove words feature.

Another forum member may be able to suggest some better software.

FWIW, I have used Bulk Rename Utility in the past. It is a bit complicated looking, but it can do some cool stuff. I would say it's WAY overkill for most common tasks, but it definitely should work. As I recall, you can even use RegEx in there to give even more customization to your renaming!

this worked great

you can even use folder as short cut name so no need to rename short cut

maybe tom could add it to gameex home page with gameex tools
