Ok guys, I've been trying to trouble shoot this for the past week and I've been un successful. I'm using the wrapper utility for ScummVM and when I load Gameex I'm seeing no roms present. Considering that I'm directing the roms directory to the folder within my "ScummVM" directory, what the heck am I doing wrong to make Gameex display "no roms"? Do I need to put a filter on my roms list? I seriously have no idea why I'm having such a hard time with this.

To be a bit more specific, I followed the instructions as Headkaze posted (and yes I made the correct changes). So why is gameex not seeing the files located within "Games". I haven't seen anyone else with this problem, so maybe I'm overlooking the obvious here, but I figured I would at least give the forums a shot.

ScummVM for GameEx by Headkaze

==============================

(Updated by Greatflash)

Extract the files in this archive into your ScummVM application folder.

Import the emulator settings into GameEX from the IMPORT-EXPORT folder and modify the paths to suit your setup.

you need to change these paths....

The RomPath must point to the 'Games' folder that is now located in your ScummVM application directory.

the 'command line' needs to be edited also, initially it show this:-

scummvm.exe --fullscreen --joystick -p "c:\emulators\ScummVM\roms\[ROM]" [ROM]

modify the 'c:\emulators\ScummVM\roms\' part of the line to point to the main directory where your roms 'really' reside (not the path that you have set in the 'RomPath' area).

NOTE:

your games must be unzipped and located individually in folders, name them the same as the ID's displayed at the bottom of this readme - this is important.

Setting-up ScummVM

==================

1. If you have no games set-up in ScummVM

Launch ScummVM and select 'add games'. locate the directory where your games are located, select a games directory and click ok.

repeate for all games.

2. If you already have ScummVM set-up

Check that your rom locations ALL use the correct directory names as indicated in the ID displayed in the list below.

For example - 'Maniac Mansion' should be located in '<your rom path>/maniac'

All should be ready to go. Check the games all run from ScummVM itself.

I am not entirely sure why it is not working for you?

Can you run the games ok from the ScummVM executable itself?

The roms must not be zipped and located in a directory within your rom directory..

ie.

Roms/

/loom/

/lost/

/maniac/

etc..

Within these directories must reside the disc contents for the game(s).

The rom path MUST point to /Scumm/games/ This is your scumm install directory and If you followed the instructions should contain small files named the same as the directories shown above. If these files are not present, please extract them again. This is what GameEx uses to create the game list.

Once these files are in the correct place, you must use scummvm (outside of gameex) to add the games to it. Click "Add game" and select your rom directory that the games are located in (unzipped as shown above) Once these are added and you have modified the paths (if needed) in the GameEx setup - all should work fine.

The main point is that you must be missing the files in Scumm/games (Or ScummVM/games/ if that is where you put ScummVM)

I hope that helps??

It seems complicated but is worth the effort as it runs a treat when set up

PS. I cannot remember the config posted now. but if you have put Scumm in a folder called ScummVM, then you may have to modify the paths to suit your scumm install.

greatflash -

Thanks for the reply, I usually don't have this much difficulty setting up an emulator thats why I HAVE to be missing something entirely too simple..

In anycase, yes, all games run perfectly from ScummVM just fine. No games are zipped and I followed the instructions perfectly. I guess what I'm concerned about is the fact that Gameex isn't listing any of the files within the "games" directory.

In anycase, you gave me some great leads to go after so back to the arcade I go. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I admit: Joe = dumbass... I had previously (weeks ago) tried setting up this emulator and had the following:

GamesIn7Zips=True <_<

So if we could.. take a look at the following:

Command=scummvm.exe --fullscreen --joystick -p "d:\ScummVM\roms\[ROM]"[ROM]

For some reason, it will "try" to load this (by try, I mean dark screen and appear to load the emulator) and about 3 seconds later, it brings me back into gameex.

I've tried both [ROM]"[ROM] and [ROM]" [ROM] (space between the 2) with no luck and even minimized the command to just scummvm.exe -p "d:\ScummVM\roms\[ROM]"[ROM].

I wanted to see if maybe the emulator was even trying to open so I ran gameex windowed and it in fact isn't opening the .exe

Current config:

[Emulator_27]

Enabled=True

StartPageName=Scumm (ScummVM)

TitleText=Scumm

StartPageLogo=Scumm

RomFilter=

RomsInFolders=False

ROMPath=D:\Emulators\ScummVM\Games

TitlePath=

BoxPath=

CartPath=

WorkingPath=D:\Emulators\ScummVM

RemoveBrackets=False

Command=scummvm.exe -p "d:\ScummVM\roms\[ROM]"[ROM]

LaunchBefore=

LaunchAfter=

configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit ScummVM (ALT+X)

ExcludedFiles=

*The only games I can successfully run is LOOM and Maniac Mansion. The rest run fine through the scumm exe, but they will not run through gameex..*

Problem fixed. Apparently I downloaded a bogus torrent. After downloading a much more complete torrent, i noticed that the file contents between the various games were quite different. None the less I'm happy and now I can stop bugging everyone else here! :rolleyes:

I followed the instructions as Headkaze posted

Actually those instructions were written by greatflash and in all honesty he should put his name in the by line instead because I did bugger all work on it ;)
