Not sure why you're posting MAME questions here, but I can help you understand why it doesn't work well. What MAME and/or any other emulator (Raine, MESS, ZNES, etc.) does is make your PC think it's the machine it's emulating. The reason why some Arcade games are slow no matter what the PC power is, is because of design. Your PC is managing video, sound, cycles... RAM.. etc.. etc.. etc.. the real arcade game is just playing the game based on the chip instructions.

So newer/bigger games like Cruisin' USA and others like it will never play right on a PC until we get into the 10+ GHz CPU range... and even then, they may not work right. It's simply the design of the game that kills the PC.

This was always a hot topic on the MAME Dev forum until it was closed. I hope this helps a little.

Imberzerk,

Fruit machine games are "gambling games" These simulation are mostly not emulated by MAME as they do not follow the guidelines. Varaitions of MAME (Misfit Mame) is a good example of a MAME based emulator that supports the games that mame will not.. Like DKII the return of jumpman infamous hack.

MFME is multi fruit machine emulator and isn't exactly mame. As for as to why a particular game may or may not run well could be your pc specs or just inadequet emulation. As far as the game playing the wrong sample Id consider the source where you obtained your rom images.. However all of this fall under off topic discussion.

Whoops... sorry... I was kinda wondering what a Fruit Machine was? A Juicer?

All serious though, the MAME project is more about emulating the game true to it's original state, rather than just emulating it. Maybe they have not gotten around to adding code for these. If it's the type that you see in Vegas, Chuckie Cheese or Dave & Buster's, then I highly doubt you'll ever see them emulated. Those are not video games, they are just gambling machines.

Sorry dude... but like I said, this is really not a MAME board, ROM board, or anything else other than a GameEx board. Your basically relying on us to give you our best opinion on a subject that's not even related to this board.

Personally, I'll answer any questions I can. If I don't know the answer, or just don't feel like typing, I use the "back" button on my browser. ;)

Well, a lot of times if someone doesn't know the answer, a link to somewhere that contains the answer is posted. In this case, I have never played with or researched the fruit machines, so I can't help. Did you try searching for a forum that discusses MFME (if that's the right emulator)? They might be a lot more helpful with a solution or a site to check. Just my thoughts...

EDIT: I just did a quick search on google and found a forum that might be helpful.

Well, what the hell... it's a good topic, what does it do? Is it worth having as a game on the cabinet?

What have you learned about it? I wasn't trying to turn you away, it looked like a 'wheel spinning' question on the forum, that's all.

I know that there are a bunch of poker/gamling games in MAME, I think there are a few 'arm bandit' games as well. Have you tried any of those? I'm up to about 5K games in MAME, of which I play .05 of them. So who knows how many of these games are actually in my game list.
