Weird stuff!

Hi all,

I updated my MAME list and and it seems I am missing all the NEO GEO roms?

Also in the main screen i.e Fav, light gun, Neo Geo (the Neo geo folder is emty also) etc I have a list of 650 with loads of junk?

Can someone help...

There was some issues with NEOGEO in Mame.127, if you update to Mame.128, and update your roms as well, it should fix the neogeo issues, I'm not sure what you mean about the 650 with junk, You'll get some strange stuff, if you have Catver.ini (I think) in your Custom folders. If that doesn't make any sense, post a screenshot.

I think it's the catver in your custom folders directory not controls.ini in the favorites folder. If you put stuff in your favorites folder and start up GameEx, you will have imported all of those games into your favorites list. I did that with catver.ini once and had to start over with my favorites!

If updating MAME and your roms to v0.128 doesn't fix it, you could try posting your gameex.ini file.

I just install MAME 0128u5 and still no Neo Geo romes are showing?

Also I still have 505 choices in the main list

It starts off -

"All MAME Games" and then at the bottom it shows mature (even though I said "no porn please")

Then it goes

.01

.02

.03

all the way to 505!!!

So far as NeoGeo, are your roms .128 as well?

I never knew there was a set of .128 neogeo roms out there?

Thats a hell of a lot of roms to find....

you can get the full set of roms and then use a rom manager like clrmamepro too only filter the neo geo roms out....

i suspect that you have some kind of another problem going on there though....but first get the full mame set to see if this is causing your issues

When They make changes to mame, it can affect the roms as well, so your roms version need to match your Mame version. I am almost certain that this is the problem, because they changed the name of the driver (I think it was) for NeoGeo, starting with Mame.127. You could always go to Mame.126, and the NeoGeo games would probably work.

Google Clrmamepro (Better), or Romcenter (Easier), get some dats for mame.128 (If that's the version you want to use), and give it a go.

The reason you have the numbers in your list (.01, .02, etc.) must be because GameEx is reading you catver.ini as a custom folder. You need to check that.

As for the Neo Geo roms...Yeah, since the change was made to MAME in regards to neogeo.c you will have to update all roms to 0.128+. I haven't done it yet, but that's the fix as I understand it. Either use MAME 0.127 and old roms or 0.128 and get the new roms. Your choice...

whatever problem it is.. i have the same one. from one day to the next all the neo geo games are missing. they work fine with mame... but they just dont appear anymore in gameEx. i updated the rom-list several times but nothing worked.

I think Mame devs changed a bunch of stuff again... It is important that your roms match your version of Mame.

ugh.. just switched back to old mame-version. is there some kind of software that i have to run over the roms or do i have to download all that stuff again. sorry, totally new to gameEx... but i love it. board seems to be cool, too... so today the gameEx-staff will get my donation.

You'll want to rebuild your roms to match the MAME version you're using. There are 2 tools available for this. Romcenter and Clrmame. Either will do the trick.
