playing mame through game ex

hi hopefully i am being really stupid.

I cant seem to play my mame games through game ex. I can view my list of games, when i select a game from the list it proceeds to load showing the controller/button layout a screen pops up saying --% loading, then the screen goes black and returns to my list of games in game ex.

The main solution reading through the forums seems to be to turn bezel off, i have done and it makes no difference, can anyone give me any help.

What are your results when running runitgame.bat? Any errors?

when i runitgame.bat it opes a windows says --% loading and then automatically closes itself.

My mame games play prefectly through windows it only through game ex i have the problem.

Hmmmm..... Everything looks OK.

Make sure that C:\Emulators\Mame32 is the correct path to your Mame.exe, that Mame32.exe is the name of your mame.exe, and that C:\Emulators\Mame32\roms Is the path to your Roms... These are the things that we can't check for you. If they all seem OK, then yes, you will need to post your GameEX.ini.

Seems like it's trying to load and then closes out. Best would maybe be to run from the command-line itself to see the error?

3. Type cmd and press {Enter} or OK
   
4. Type CD "C:\Emulators\Mame32" and press {Enter}

   It should give you some type of error and let you know what's going on or what's not right.

OMG it did exatly the same thing as its doing when i try running game ex, it opens up a black window shows loading 10% then closes??????

Is it like that for every game? I would think it would give some type of error and then let you know what the error is in the command window. It closes that completely when you run a game?

when typed in the command prompt it opens a second window, which it then automatically closes itself, as if it is trying to start the game and then just quits, i have noticed that for different games the window will stay open for longer, however all i am getting is this "loading screen" so for example with pacman it will hit 10% then quit, however with time crisis it went to 66% and then quit, i must also point out that this is instant, its not like 1,2,3,% etc etc

so in answer the loading window closed however my command window is still open displaying all the commands i typed, however no error.

Are you able to run a game successfully through MAME32? What version of MAME are you running? Do your roms match your version of MAME? You have everything right from what we can see on our end so it has to be something wrong with your setup.

i have a dvd with a mame32 emulator and some roms, this works fine.

when i tried to run this emulator through game ex, game ex wouldnt load, so i proceeded to download the recommend mame32 emulator in the gamex set up.

however i am still trying to use the roms i already had.

is this my problem, and how will i know if the roms match, and where do i go from here?>

lol come in and and help temp no need to be jealous, im tearing my hair out at this, though you have nailed it the emulator isnt gonna match the roms, so what do i do now? do i try and use my original mame emulator which i have working roms for i think its version 0.61.0.0

That would be the thing to do or rebuild the roms you have now to a more current version and fill in what ever you're missing.

You can get old versions of MAME from here. The other option is to use a current version and rebuild your rom set to match the current version of MAME. This will basically remove roms that are not compatible with the version of MAME that you want to use. You can use CLRMAMEPro or RomCenter. I haven't used either recently, but there are people here who have and can help.
