  • Now has high score support for supported MAME games thanks to Fyrecrypts project. For supported games and if enabled you will see an option on the game info page to show high scores for a game. For more info on the project please see Here on BYOAC. Feel free to get involved in the project. There's a few of us helping out, and Ill be providing some hosting for it shortly.
  • Improved control support when playing videos in the video player. Fixes a key repeating issue, and video skips are now a more friendly 20 seconds instead of 30
  • Improved support for displaying GameEx on a secondary display. GameEx will now run in ful screen windowed mode on the secondary display, and continue to be accessible when working on the primary display. Im assuming this is going to be better for everyone, but if itâ??s a problem for you please let me know on the forums.

Nice work Tom. I would probably mention NOP as well as he did alot of the decyphering of the games which is the hardest part of the project. Fyrecrypts wrote the tools with a bit of help from me for the encoding and decoding of the hi files based on much of his analysis. I always thought that if the online part of the project was to never go anywhere that at least the HitToText part of it would probably end up in a few FE's (which is why I was nagging Tom for a while to implement it hehe). Displaying the hiscore for games is neat feature IMHO

Anyway here is a list of games that are currently supported:

1942, Magic Sword, Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Mr. Do, Mappy, Asterix, DigDug2, Jackal, Pulstar, Do Donpachi, Contra, Vs. Super Mario, Major Havoc, Galaxian, Zaxxon, Crazy Kong, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Mario, Raiden, Marble Madness, Wonder Boy 3, Burger Time, DigDug, Gigawing, Donkey Kong 3, Street Fighter 2, Frogger, Ghosts'N Goblins, The Simpsons, Altered Beast, X-Men, Road Runner (Atari), Daioh

Also you will have to compile your own version of Mame and apply MKChamp's hiscore patch.

Anyway to get rid of the second Icon at all?? I tried uninstalling it and re-installing and that didn't work.

really liking the highscore support, thanks Tom

Is it normal to lose all your high scores after updating to each new version of MAME? I had managed my best ever Donkey Kong score of 59000 odd and then after switching to the latest MAME it's back to defaults :(

Will this new high score support in GameEx help keep the old scores after changing?

I too love the high score support! Though I seem to be having a problem. At first after I updated to 9.66 the high score option showed up in the Galaga page but didn't seem to save my high scores. So I tried a few different versions of Mame like MameUI,MameUIFX,Mame Plus etc.. and the option just seemed to disappear. I recently compile Mame 128U3 and it still isn;t there. I've patched with the high score patch still no luck. Any ideas? :(

Im sorry, I really dont know the answers to the high score questions. All gameex does is use the .hi file in MAME\Hi folder and pass it to hitotext.exe. Whatever MAME does I dont know. I know there is limited supported games. ie 1942 set 1 is supported but not the other sets. Id like to help but this maybe better redirect to the topic on BYOAC. Not Sure.

Oh no worries Tom I'll try asking on the BYOAC forums and see if they can come up with a solution and then post it here. Thanks! :)

*Edit* I figured it out for some reason I accidently placed the highscore.dat in the hi folder  It's all working now including GameEx hiscore support :)
