The solution is pretty simple really. The screen isn't too far away, it's just far too small. I think a 60" would work much better.

Also, I think the controls are recessed under the bar, so it would be more challenging to spill on the CP. I know some people that could find a way though, so recessed is really no guarantee!

The control panels are a little too close for my comfort. I like my friends... but I don't LIKE my friends. ;)

Other than that, it's cool.

The controls could always have a gasket material between them and the panel. That way liquid shouldn't seep down into the panel. And if this were a major concern, you could always put the electronics in like they do with cable TV...use a drip loop. Make sure the encoder and other components aren't directly below the holes and then just use a loop to keep the liquid away (liquid doesn't go up hill too well).
