Hi,

This may not be the most appropriate place to post about it, but I was not finding if this was possible or not? I just started messing around with GameEx. I want to create a couple of profiles or menus for a player when they use gameex.

for example I have Kid1, Kid2 and Adult1.

When GameEx starts I want to be able to select Kid1 profile and they have a locked down menu and favorites. Same goes for Kid2. Now if I select Adult1 in GameEx I want unrestircted access.

The whole point is to restrict access and use a locked down menu for the kids while I can can do what I want or even update them. Even if this is done by manually editing the ini.

Is this possible ? If so how do I?

If not is this a resonable enancement request?

Well everything for gameex is stored in the gameexconfig file.

You can create 2 more copys of that file. You can specify what config to load via command line.

You can edit the configs to your liking. Then create 3 short cuts loading each config. Then each user can launch their own version.. Or you can restrict access as you wish.

There is more about this in the FAQ.

Another and easier way is just to install a second copy of GameEx in a different folder then run whatever install (by double clicking the exes) you want from windows explorer. I should put this in the FAQ. Its what I do if I want seperate setups.

Thanks for the input. However, I was wanting this to be a dedicaed machine and hide the destkop as much as possble. The two things I was trying to get around were

1) Creating user profiles that can be selected in GamEx (then you would nver know its windows XP

2) Hide the desktop totally (still get some screen refreshes that show it even if the option is selected to disable the desktop/icons)

1) Couldn't you setup an "External Application" in Advanced Config that would close the current GameEX instance and launch the other users profile? (or instance of GameEX)

You can name the command the names of the profiles.

2) I do not have any icons on my desktop, rather I use the quick launch. And I have (currently) the task bar in windows set to Autohide. But once I get my config complete GameEX will be replacing the Windows shell and will hide XP even more so.

Theres other tips and tricks on how to hide windows xp on the front page, and that will help hide desktop items etc.
