It could be the curse of the witches of witchland, or a mystical spell cast on your mame executable...??

Firstly, does mame run from outside gameex?

If so, reduce your mame command line to nothing (empty) and see if it works. It may be a commandline switch parsed by gameex that is causing the problem

If not, you need to iron out your mame settings. rename the mame.ini (if you have one) and try again...

Lummee!

Shouldn't you be out scaring small children and stealing their sweets? :)

here is my log...

nothing stands out to me except the missing controlls.ini, this should not cause a problem.

I was wondering if triplebuffer was causing a problem. This can happen with some graphic cards and cause the system to go slo-mo or freeze?

removed the -tripplebuffer.....

nothing still freezin

the word "Bugger" springs to mind with alarming "Buggerness"...???

In advanced mame settings please try removing all from the command line options.

What is confusing is that it works outside gameex but not within and nothing appears to be wrong with your config?

What version of mame are you using and what revision?

Brain - any possibility it is a control panel viewer thing? I have no experience of it - so?

maybe... But im not 100 percent sure.

Beaps,

Tell us what happend.. Is this a new install? Are your drivers setup and up to date.

Run MAME.exe -CC and it will create a new mame.ini

in video change d3d to ddraw and see it that fixes it.

Something isnt initializing properly.

for kicks disable the panel viewer too.

The thing is I am using Gameex in a Dell260 for the first time - you done think it a Dell related thing?

i cant see how? you say it works out of gameex? This does not leave much..

The command line passed from gameex or mame.ini which is often not used when run from gameex?

The only other options are the control panel viewer hanging? I really am at a loss and would love to know what the cause is?

This will bug me when I go to bed!

are you using mameui or mame standard. I always use mame windows command line as mameui can cause the odd problem or 3. You could try mame command line (just drop it in the dir and rename if that is easier)

If all other functions of gameex work (other emus?), I cant see that it is an issue with gameex and the dell?
