errors when creating mng videos

Hi Tom,

I am still unable to create mng vids using mame32fx .99u9 and gameex 5.08. Also, should the videos display while they are creating? I get audio but no video when I hear the first video trying to be created but then get the error below.

It probably does not like the ArcadeVGA, The process is not designed to run on a an ArcadeVGA cab. I think GameEx or MAME cant load in a window because your system resolution is too low. What do you have it at?

(The game should show in a window. Your desktop should be in the background if its working right)

That was it. I had GameEx set to always change res to 640X288. I had to switch that to not change res then set the desktop at 800X600 to get it to work properly.

One thing, should the mng videos have sound? when they play back in gameex they do not. Just wondering if that is by design.

When I tried to create videos GameEx crashed as well. But not in the "ordinary" way, but I get a "Windows has caused an exception" or somthing like that.

I have tried both with letting GameEx change resolution and with no change.

I'm on Windows XP SP2 without ArcadeVGA. I don't know what version of Framework I have installed. I've just followed Microsofts recommendations from Windows Update.

I'm currently at work so I can't really test this any more atm, just thought I'd report it.

My error was caused by me seeding the MNG torrent file. Thus making my MNG catalogue, read-only I guess.

But now I have another problem that I think is caused by me using ZetaMAME. Because you can't exit without pressing first escape, then select button, GameEx gets stuck in the first game. I'm gonna download the regular MAME build and have a go.

MAME itself only records the video at the moment. Maybe MAME Dev will implement recording sound with it later. Who knows.
