I just updated to the newest version, i reinstalled the karaoke dx plugin and changed the karaoke folder with only a few karaoke songs in it... no change! gameex still won't do anything if i click on a song! even the log doesn't record any action... wmp plays the cdgs fine.

any other suggestions? can i somehow reset the karaoke settings?

i just updated gameex from 49 to 60

and now when i go into any game emulator and click a game u would usually get the page that says

click play to start (or something)

but it takes about 10 mins for that to appear,

i tried 2 restarts and checked to see if i changed anything,wich i didnt,

any ideas on that one

and i just realised that it only does it once,

like it caches all the games for about 10 mins then its ok

still id like to turn that caching down or off if thats the problem

With this release i forced it do it once only recache for the other systems feature. It won't do that again. I meant to put it into the release notes but forgot.

It should be quicker after restarts though unless theres some problem. You can turn it off by turning off the other systems feature. You must have hundreds of emulators setup if its taken a long time every time?

I want to double check it not a bug first. Can you be very specific and honest about how long it taking and your system specs. Did it take an even longer time the first time you ran this version. It should have done. It really shouldnt take 10 minutes every restart of GameEx.

but its way noticable as usually it is within 2 seconds

to bring up the play this game page,

Chriss, I didnt think it would be something as simple as this, as you said youd tried "everything", but if clicking on a song does absolutely nothing then it sounds like you have Karaoke in Queue mode instead of instant play mode, perhaps? Just click the menu item.

Still not working for me either Tom! In the Karaoke Settings I have Play Mode: Click to play any Song. It just goes to a black screen and then comes back with still the same thing I posted in the log. Now I also went to the Audio Settings and changed from JukeBox Queue Mode: Clicking songs queues them to Clicking songs instantly plays and got a different result. No switch to black screen but doesn't give any errors in the log.

yo tom, thanks for helping me figure this out... i don't think it would be as simple as changing from queue mode to instant play. i got these settings right..

but i experience hd failures lately (chkdsk had to fix index structures twice in a week) so I'm not feeling this sure of my setup in general... though all emulators and video playback work in gameex... but i think of setting up my system again, maybe 64bit this time.. I'm pretty sure this will fix the error, sicne it still seems to work for others besides frequency and me!

since we both have big collections i reckon it could have something to do with the sheer size of files gameex has to process (21 gb in my case). I saw the karaoke chache file in the gameex data folder, so maybe this file got corrupted. is it safe to delete this? I'm a bit clueless about what's going on...

But setting up the system again will hopefully fix this error

I tested with a small folder as well. Again I don't use GameEx for karaoke but tested for chriss to verify he wasn't the only one having problems. I did have it working at one time but now no longer works. I even did a manual install in hopes it would fix it and even deleted the KaraokeData.dat and KaraokeFiles.dat but no luck.

No HD failures for me chriss! I even tried putting on different HD's and was unsuccessful. I tried 5 different ones. It's gotta be a setting or something that is conflicting. Cuz as I posted earlier when I switched setting for JukeBox mode I got no errors but still didn't work.

I'm experiencing the same thing gerble1000. You're not the only one.

Since you're still dealing with this then you should start a new topic so it can get noticed more. Also maybe can ask a Mod to move things over for ya so it's not hidden here in the karaoke section. Not many people always read everything that's posted and especially if it has karaoke in the title. Chriss and I have learned that as of late. LOL.

I think the issue is that databases are selected for emulators but no matches are found, and GameEx is scanning again. Hence why its saying not restoring from cache.

Can you try the GameEx.exe in this post:

Go through the motions, it will recache everything initially and that will take a while. Then hoepfully there should be an improvement on next restart. Post the log again after its done all that.

ok an update!

i got it working ... kind of...

instant play mode is still not working but when i click on queue mode and then select some songs, then click on the start karaoke button the songs will play!

i just installed the gameex.exe that tom was referring to in the previous post so I don't know if it has something to do with this!

but at least its working for now!
