I just got a new PC....how can i check what video/audio codecs are installed on it? I'm running VISTA 32bit. Im asking because no preview videos are showing at all in GameEx. And yes, its set up right to show them. :)

I'm thinking out of the box no codecs are installed then? I'd like to check b4 messing with installing any

Thanks!

The best tool to see what codecs are installed is Filmerit: http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm

To know with which codec a file as been encoded, you can use Gspot... a little bit outdated but still useful: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

And if you don't like installing Codec Pack (usually lots of garbage in it), you can use this "combo"

FFDShow Tryouts: http://free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm

Haali Media Splitter: http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/

Install both with defaults options, and you should be able to play around everything "standard" on P2P networks...
