Hi All,

The P.C. in my mame cab is currently still outside the unit because I am not sure about how to move the power button on the case.

Has anyone done this?

Or does anyone know of any good onine guides.

Also do I need a special type of button to replace it with or is it possible to connect it to a standard arcade pushbutton?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming your just talking about the soft power button on a standard ATX case/motherboard?

You just need a contact switch connected to the 2 points on the on the motherboard.

BrutalDeluxe is on the money.. not that I've tried it before myself, but you should just be able to grab a standard pushbutton (and switch etc), and wire it up that way. Trace the 2 thin cables from your Power button back to your motherboard. Find where they connect to on your motherboard. Find a suitable jumper you can use, and wire up to a standard pushbutton. Should be easy.*

MightyPeniz - I love the disclaimer!

Jedah - I just post in the "cabinets running Gameex" thread, showing a pic of how I connected my power switch to the coin return button on my coin door (if you have a coin door).

Thaks for the responses.

@ tempest I will have a look at your post. I may have to modify my machine because coin return on my cab at the moment is escape(Quit back to GameEx).

P.S. Just checked it out. You have done almost exactly the same as i did. I too stuck a microswitch behind my door. But mine is used differently. May have to change it now though.

had the same question. this is one of the last things to do on my cab..wire the PC on/off switch to an arcade type switch on the top of the cab. I assumed I could just cut and extend the PC wires to my new switch?

Got one of those cool power strips that turn everything on when the pc turns on, marquee, monitor, speaker, coin door lights.

I extended my wires the first time I did it so yeah, that's all you have to do...

I actually soldered the wires onto the PCB (or maybe onto the switch itself?), and ran the new wire out a vent hole at the back. It seemed like a good idea at the time (LOL), until I tried to take the computer out of the cabinet to install new harware, and found that I couldn't because I had hardwired it in. So if you do something like that, it may not be a bad idea to use connectors.... ;)
