I love GameEX its a fantastic frontend however I wish it had the option to look and control a bit more like Vista Media Centre. Ideally I would have a My games section then simply click on GameEX button and it loads a screen simialar to my pictures or videos but with system selection. I click on the system I wanna play which brings up the relevent games. There would be horizontal selection categories such as genre, date, publisher, favs, no of players etc.

Emucenter can do this and it looks sweet, but the program is very buggy but defo worth a look for anyone who hasnt heard of it. The guy making it is very useful and probably would appreciate any input. In the future I will probably use this but I was wondering if any of the version 4 themes could be made to look like this? GameEX would feel more integrated into the media centre if it had the same look and feel. Just now it feels like a totally seperate program which is fine for cabinets and desktops but I dont think it works on media systems.

Here is a screenshot of emucenter, as you can see it looks good, is this possible with GameEX

I dont think its ever going to look exactly like Vista MC, but I am planning on implementing image lists shortly. Thats my next big job. I disagree that it does not work on media centers, but yes EmuCenter does look promising. However GameEx is so much more.

When i say it doesnt work I mean, it just doesnt flow as nicely as it could, essentially the transition between media centre and GameEX could be made less. Just now the layout is totally different I think it would be a nice option if the layout could be made more similar, so ppl are used to it. Especially now that it has horizontal selection options similar to VMC.

The current layout works well and your right GameEX is so much more and its a very stable program which is why I bought it but as media centre popularity grows I think a program that feels more integrated would be better (just an option to have this layout, not a replacement layout).

Tom will correct me if I'm wrong. But I've read on thegreenbutton.org forums that the API that drives the "GUI" of Vista Media Center is hard to "reverse engineer".

So, you can code something similar, but to look exactly like it, it would take a lot of effort.

Anyway, I prefer, by far, that Tom put his (btw so generous) time and effort in added fonctionality and generally improving GameEx.

Just my 2 cent.

Regards.

I for one can't wait to see the image lists added to GameEx. I think it will brang a whole new feel to the UI.
