Ok, no problem. The interim solution is to put "shutdown.exe -s -f -t 5" in the launch on exit line and Exiting GameEx rather than shutting down. This works ok for the most part, but it does cause one problem...I can't update GameEx automatically because it shuts the machine down. DOH!!!

Great update Tom.

There is a strange quirk with daphnebak_Foreground.png? Regardless of what graphic I use, GameEx fails with a 21 consecutive..... etc. direct x error. The same foreground renamed as startbak_foreground.png works a treat for the start page. Also, remaning any of my existing working foreground files for daphne also causes the same problem.

All other screens do not have this problem including mame. Everything else works fine except Daphne? Strange...

Yes, before you say it - it is always me :)

Fixed in 9.56. Also includes a force shutdown option.

Thanks Tom, Works a treat now!

Hmmm, I did an automatic update last night and tried a shutdown with a remote login. The message box popped up to the foreground immediately. Is there something I have to do to turn on the force shutdown switch (admittedly I didn't check since it was late and I thought it would work)? I know it works with the commandline "shutdown.exe -s -f -t 1". I imagine you are using a direct call rather than using the exe though. Is there anything else I can test out?

You need to set it in the advanced config under tweaks
