what i mean by this is if you have a movie in a folder that is split in 2 eg movie-cd1.avi movie-cd2.avi

can you stack them so you only see movie ( hiding cd1.avi and cd2.avi) but when you play movie it gameex well play movie cd1.avi then movie cd2.avi automatically

I've seen in the past where a video file was somehow linked to play the next video in a series when it reached the end. I don't remember the type of file it was though. One option is to combine the videos into one. I didn't do an extensive search, but this one claims to be able to combine the videos without reencoding. That means it should be quick and have zero quality degradation.

thank you after playing around i worked out how to Make playlists for Media Player Classic (m3u Files that are just text files with a m3u extension)

that have each part of the movie on a separate line (full path ) eg

c:movie-cd1.avi

c:movie-cd2.avi

now can i add them under videos at the moment they are set up as an emulator

or is there a way to add them to the home page

or can game ex play playlist for videos

You want an individual video to show up on the home page for GameEx? If so, I think the only way would be to set up the video as an emulator or application with only that one file. If you have one file to do that way, it should work fine. If you want to do that with a bunch of videos, I would recommend setting things up differently.

i would love to have them show up under videos or in a folder on the home page as a folder my movies

This is a bit beyond my scope of capabilities as I've never used GameEx for videos (other than previews). Hopefully someone else can provide some insight.

I know the stacking feature from XBMC and it is really nice. It works like this:

Say, you have a movie splitted into 2 files: movie-part1.avi and movie-part2.avi (both in the same folder). Now, in XBMC there's only one entry in the list: 'movie' (and the calculated total running time). When you hit play, the first file starts and after that, the movie countinues automatically with the 2nd file. In XBMC this even works directly with disc-images (!).

So basicly it looks for similar file names (using some reg-ex magic i guess), groups them together and automatically plays the individual files in a consecutive order without further manual action. Ofcourse, the movie can be split in more then 2 parts. It works with nearly all common filename-conventions e.g.

movie-a, movie-b

movie_cd1, movie_cd2

movie(cd1), movie(cd2), movie(cd3)

and some other variations of the above.

I've never seen that in XBMC. I've never looked either though. When I look at the files, they just show up as files in paths. Probably cause I've never spent that much time setting it up.

yep XBMC is where i first seen it media portal has it too now

would love to see it in gameex

or the able to play playlist for moves using the internal player

The internal player can't handle playlists? Maybe you mean it can't handle a playlist that combines the list into a single item? If not, ask for it in the features request thread.

I mostly use the libary/database-mode, maybe stacking isn't used in simple browsing mode.

However, stacking in gameex would be a nice feature.

Off topic @ bkenobi: you really should give xbmc another try. IMHO it's still the best media center-software/hardware for sd-media and non-live tv.
