I don't know if I can ask this, but where do you get the Gamebase 64 romsets? For years I've been pulling them from Arnold64. That sounds a lot easier.

Also, I guess the info coming on about the game would have to do with the game name and database matching? That's probably one of my issues. I tend to rename my ROMS to something more recognizable.

best,

Quite a high proportion of the Gamebase64 roms are pd or are permission granted. Check out the Gamebase website for info on the naming of the roms etc. That is as much as i can give you without breaking rules.

The DB's KNOW the naming conventions of several sets of roms. With the new c64 set, it matches with goodbase, no intro, and tosec. If your roms are named correctly and the data is present in the db (it all will be one day) then GameEx will display the infomation that matches it. You also will no longer need worry about your roms naming. If they match any of the Dat sets, GameEx can now display them with correct names following a set convention. You will find this option in the emu config under "Use database names".

Gotcha. That's what I thought. For instance, I name Raid on Bungeling Bay just that... instead of ROBB as the ROM is titled. Stuff like that takes eons to correct. But if you know the name in the ROM file, then you can easily fix it.

Same for my Inty ROMs. I use the long names for everything.

Maybe this has been covered, but since the DB's will have the standard naming conventions, will Gameex then use these to cross reference artwork as well? That would be handy...

They don't apear to at the moment. Tom did mention that the idea of doing that was being considered when we first started doing this. the only problem is that with some vids there may be a possibility of the wrong video being selected. Some DAT (Tosec being the worst) names are miss-named to the extent that this could cause confusion. It may be worth mentioning it again as a feature request. It would be great for things like the Future pinball db where it contains the fpt names as well as the zipped names (ie. dmb_2001.ftp - that will never find the video unless named the same)
