Hi,

I only have a 1p start as its a 1p Cab - how can I change how I exit a rom (usually 1p & 2p buttons)

I'm using an ahk script. when pressing button c and button 5 ( for x-arcade the bottom 1p buttons) the emulator exits...

tell me two keys and i can change the script for your setup

I would prefer to use P1 and the 1st button from the right on the second row?

when you open notepad, does this correspond to a keyboard key?

like when you press the button for player 1 does it display e.g. "1" or "f" or whatever in notepad?

if your arcade pad is a joystick which sends joystick commands (not a joystick mapped as a keyboard) then my method won't work for you...

If you have a gamepad, then you should use the advanced emulator config to do this.
