Hello

It's been a while since I tested gameex as a HTPC solution.

I've seen that now DVD playback can be done using an external player, but I didn't see anything about non DVD videos

Did I miss something or is it still impossible to use an external player for avi and such ?

Thanks for your answers :)

Do you mean: using an external player's CODEC? or simply "ask" GameEx to minimize and use (for example) PowerDVD to play your files?

If the you want to use the codec of the external player, it should be available as a drop-down item in HTPC menu in GameEx. If you mean using directly the external player, I don't have a clue, maybe the big boys can join in the discussion! ;)

If you want to use another application to play videos as lalandev suspects, then you would want to set up the player as an external application or emulator. Set up the filter to only show the file types that application can handle. Then, set the command line to call the application and "rom" like you would another emulator. Make sure the application will launch and start playing upon command line call (that might be the sticking point). If it doesn't, you will probably need to use some kind of a loader script written in AHK for example.

I don't see this as a big benefit for this (and it would probably look ugly), so I'm hoping you are asking about using the codec.

I wasn't talking about a codec, but an actual player (zoom player)

I think that every single htpc frontend I tried allowed a call to an external player, so I curious why gameex wouldn't allow it

As you said, calling to the external player that way would be ulgy, since the whole point is to use the multimedia interface.

I am also much interested by this feature, I am a hugen fan of zoom player and I would really like to be able to use gameex multimedia interface to use directly zoom player to view the files.

This shouldn't be hard to do.

Ill see what I can do. Initially I didnt allow it as I wanted to try to do my best to perfect the internal player, and focus feedback on that.

Its not difficult to do.

Cool, that would be great. !

I guess that would be an instant registration for me if it's working well :)
