MNG bg music plays with MAME

When I select a game to play, the music background music fades out when I click "Play this game", but obviously not fast enough, because MAME loads up the game with the background mp3 that matches the mng files still playing at low volume in the background. And when the game is loaded, the mp3 "hangs", like a broken record. Very annoying.

I'm using GameEx 4.99 + ZetaMame 0.99, but the problem's been around for at least the 10 last revisions of GameEx.
