Question about snaps, I have the HQ set. Do I dump all these folders in my avisnaps folder or only the stuff in horizontal? BTW I'm now using MameUI64 on my MAME cab because my new computer has Vista64. I wasn't able to use the HQ ones before because the old MAME computer would choke on them.

Thanks,

Ing

you should put the horizontal and the vertical together in the avisnaps folder, otherwise you will only have previews for some games (well, either horizontal or vertical games)

i don't really see the point in keeping them seperated in the first place...

Make sure you copy them in the right order. Circo's describes it in detail. Also, if you want to only have one location for your files and not lose any of the originals, I put together a procedure using linked files. It allows you to have the original files so you don't have to re-download EVERYTHING when you update AND you can also have them in a format that GameEx will accept WHILE NOT taking up any extra HDD space. Check out this thread for details.

What do you mean linked? I copied over the horizontal first, then the vertical. When the same name file came up I chose to keep the larger of the two.

Edit. My bad I didn't see the link you put in there...

You don't want to keep the bigger file, you want to keep the vertical file. If the game has a vertical resolution, GameEx will force the video snap to maintain that vertical resolution. If you have a video snap that has artwork or is horizontal for whatever reason and you try to display that with a vertical game, it will end up looking all smooshed.

Hmm.... Makes sense, I might have to delete and recopy all those files from my backup drive. We'll see after a few more beers.

Thanks,
