Has anyone else encountered gameex going back into windows when using video instead of snaps for viewing mame games? I can scroll through 2 or 3 and the video is viewable but then its as if the windows key was pressed. The sound is still heard but it returns to the main windows page with gameex in the system tray. I have to click on gameex again and it returns back.

What codec are you using? Some codecs use a system tray icon that steals focus when it launches (e.g., the official divx codec last I heard). If you use the link on the main page for the video codec Tom recommends, you shouldn't have problems with this.

If you are using that codec, then post your log.txt file and we can take a look.

I think that proves you didn't have the right Codec...

Probably, but I get so sick of f'ing around with codecs. Converting them all worked, took less than no time and makes GameEX happy (which makes me happy)

I use the official DivX codec and this doesn't happen... :/

I don't know where that info came from but it's silly! The DivX codec works just fine.

The official divx codec should work fine. At some point there was a problem with the system tray icon stealing focus from GameEx upon initial launch. I don't know what codec caused it but I thought it was at least one version of the official divx codec. If it's fixed/not an issue, that's great!

I Googled 'Media Player Codecs' and dowloaded "AVICodecPackPlus220" from C-Net and installed. Works great now.
