I just got GameEx last weekend. To be honest, O mostly got it for the Jukebox and Karaoke functions. The MAME ability was mostly just an afterthought for me and I didn'r plan on using it much or at all, especially since I have no ROMs to use on it.

However, I was recently given som ROMs by a friend and have been trying to get them to run with MAME. At first I was having problems getting them to run with just MAME32. I tried running the application by itself outside of GameEx, but it would crash without even starting. So I read through and decided to setup AdvanceMAME to run with MAME32.

The ROMs seem to run fine now, with one problem.

When the screen returns to the default 800x600 screen resolution within GameEx, it's offset and I can't see about 25% of the screen.

I've searched here on the forums briefly but have yet to find something. So I'm putting the question out there now while I continue to look.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a simple fix, but being new to GameEx and MAME has me a bit perplexed.

Sorry man... Im a little lost.. Are you runnig advanced mame or mame32?

There may be a mame.ini you can edit to specify a resolution.. Id run it at your desktops resolution..

What resolution are you currently running?

Im at a loss why it would not scale to the size of your display..

I think more info will help

I checked Task Manager just now while a game was in play and advmame.exe is showing up in there, so I'm pretty sure that's for AdvancedMAME. Which explains why ROMs wouldn't run before when I was using MAME32. I have no idea why they wont run under that, I haven't looked, especially since they are running with AdvancedMAME.

My native windows resolution is 13xx something wide me 7xx something high and GameEx runs in 800x600.

I've looked for a configuration file for AdavncedMAME now that I'm certain that it's the emulator that is running, but I don't seem one anywhere. Perhaps I should figure out why MAME32 isn't running properly?

Unless you have specific requirements for advmame which it sounds like you dont I would try to get regular mame working. Your probably using an old vversion or buggy version. Note MAME32 is now called mame32ui so make sure you find the right version.
