Guys,

I've used up all the space on my 2 SATA drives (motherboard has only 2 ports). I still need to add my mame video files and some larger Playstation and sega cd roms. I read on previous posts that running the video files from a USB drive really slows GAMEEX down. Has anyone had any experience running emulators off of a USB drive?

I think its more network drives or USB 1 drives that are an issue, Id say if its a USB "2" connection your be fine. I think things have moved on since I wrote that, and external drives are pretty fast now.

I run everything (MAME, other emulators, preview videos, etc.) off a USB 2.0 drive and I haven't seen any problems. But, I don't have any emulators running that use ISO or are CD/DVD based. The biggest are probably the MAME CHD games or the Daphe laserdiscs, but again, no problems with either of those.
