Just set it up as an external app in the External Applications section of GameEx Setup Wizard. Although I don't see the point of running a frontend within a frontend. Just use one or the other. :P

Hyperspin and GameEx are both very different front ends. I also can not see the point of running both? even more so within each other.

Hyperspin has it's plus points as does gameex but they both have different goals.

That reminds me: How do i fit my motorbike in my car?, am i best to use them both seperatley? :P

Will do that...

Both FE's have something good about them. Gameex is configured for almost every system and for a few PC games, I really don't want to setup everything again. Besides karaoke is not supported by Hyperspin ;)

I only want to check out Hyperspin for Mame Games basically.

I'm just re downloading Circo's Emumovies set as flv files right now. Is it possible to use these also for my regular mame games? or does gameex only support avis for preview vids?

Why not strap your car onto your motorbike? Just like running GameEx within HyperSpin. Would get the same results. LOL.

I think it makes sense to use two frontends for different purposes. Just like having windows and linux on the same system... maybe I should rather setup two OS's on my cab and then select the frontend on startup  (just like windows and linux)

I agree there as I run different frontends for different purposes. But not within each other. Defeats the purpose of using the other one to begin with.

Thats where i go wrong, i keep strapping my motorbike to the car. :(

I think i will stick with my rolls royce, even if it does need a lick of paint. The motorbike will always look nice in the showroom..

Whooo there boy, slipped into one there....

Getting back to it.. If you feel that you need to run 2 fe's, best to keep them seperate. HS would make a nice fe for mame in a cabinet for strangers as it has a uniform front to it. GameEx (imho) shines on a media centre based pc or on a home pc with a large monitor and keyboard..

right, now off to take the rolls for a spin...

(all this spinnig is a bit much now i think :) )

The thing is I only have x-arcade controls for my cab... so besides the method to launch it out of gameex I don't see how I could startup HS differntly...

having seperate xp accounts on startup would be nice, one for gameex one for HS but the I couldn't choose then one I want through my x-arcade ... or could i?

You could get creative and create a wrapper that will launch either using your x-arcade. But then you're pretty much just creating another frontend to launch 2 different frontends. Just setup the way you're wanting. It's the way to go to get the results you're after.

I will give HS a try... it's just a pain in the ass that it uses flv files instead of avi... could i use flv in gameex as well? that would save me some rare hd space

um..... No!

Actually you can, I have a codec for it on my PC and it plays .flv files in WMP so it should work fine in GameEx as well. I use the Vista Codec Pack which also works on XP and I've tested them to work great with GameEx. I haven't tried .flv playback in GameEx though there shouldn't be a problem if WMP can play them.

While Hyperspin does look nice, I find Game Ex to be much more feature enriched.

i don't wanna start a big praise of gameex here but it provides me with a better overview of my collections. I'm really looking forward to the end of theme compitition! I hope some people will do awesome themes!

Sidetrack. Has anyone tried the Vista codec pack on XP? can it be done? It will be 7 years before boxes are fast enough for me to consider using Vista...

Yes it does work on XP

Hyperspin is very pretty, but for the overall experience I think Gameex provides the complete package. Hyperspin is limited to the games where art has been created for it right? Who knows if that would ever be fully complete and how large would that make it.

Each game's unique theme would probably make the full set on the order of 2GB (based on the Extras set that's available for MAME). It would probably be much more than that once you add the videos and other stuff in there. BUT, if that's the experience you are after, then it doesn't really matter if you need to buy an extra drive or not. It's a sweet concept, so I really hope the interest doesn't die off.
