new to Game Ex

so i started up the program and am having some trouble seeing my games that are in my mame32 roms folder. i am new to this program, what i dont understand is why it shows 3500 games i dont have. how do i get it to show the games i actually have? thanks!

Has to do how you have it filtered. In Setup Wizard go into the Advance Mame Settings and on the 2nd page you need to set Only Existing Roms to yes. Also check the other filters to filter out to your needs. Each filter has a description of what they do.

Did you rebuild your list after you changed the settings?

no, i didnt see that option (i did it originally). where is it located in the menu?

yes, i have a few games running great now at full speed, very cool. so now my problem is my game controller. i have a shadowblade ps2 arcade stick plugged in through a usb adapter. but when i load the game, the controls do not respond. the controller is setup fine through the setup menu and in the control panel in windows. it actually does respond when i change the "back", "next track" and other buttons in the setup. what could be wrong?

the gamestick works fine with other emulators. i thought i had set it up correctly in game ex but i might have missed something. is there anything specific i need to have checked in the setup?

Just make sure your buttons are mapped the way you need them in the Joystick Input settings window of GameEx Setup Wizard. Also make sure you have your joystick selected in the Gamepad Device to use drop down box in the Input Settings window also found in the GameEx Setup Wizard.

there really isnt much in the input section, just buttons like select, back, paging volume...etc. how do you map the normal buttons for gameplay? i dont see that menu in the setup.

Well if you mean for gameplay then you have to setup your controls in each emulator or program. What emulator are you wanting to control?

for mame games press the tabulator key inside mame to set up your joystick

ahh thanks. so i opened up a game in mame32 and hit the tab key. i was able to scroll through the menu with the controller, but still nothing in the game. i went into the options as well and checked the joystick box.
