V4 Themes

is there any V4 themes for download anywhere ?

V4 themes are new. The V3 theme that Tom showed off should be available, but I'm not sure where to get it. The theme editor will allow you to create your own custom theme in the meantime if you like.

yep had a look at the new theme editor. but was looking for a theme to load into it just to see

how its done.

thinkin about havein a go at some v4 themes just be nice to see how they are made,setout, and so on

say has anyone got a noob tut for usein the theme editor ?

Actually, you can load up any theme and convert it to V4 for further modification. In fact, you can actually load in MAMEwah themes too (there's lots of them)! Agreed that it would be easiest to see an actual V4 theme to see an example of the new features.

bkenbi is right any theme can be converted to V4 for editing. Just create a new theme (File->New) and select any theme as the source and you have a V4 theme to play with.

I must be going completely MAD (quiet at the back). In the V4 themes, how do I set a mame background? I know this was asked for about a decade ago, so - sorry for being silly, as I cannot for the life of me (what little that is left) find out how to use it? I go to mame in the editor and open my background and save. Nothing changes?

The only workaround I can find is to use Bak.png to display in mame, but this is without my overlay/foreground?

Any suggestions?

That brings up a good question. Did Tom implement a dedicated MAME background in the new version of the themes? As I recall, the background that you have for the main GameEx interface is the same one you use for MAME. I don't really keep up on the theme stuff, so that could have been changed a decade ago.
