Is it possible that something about the new update makes gameex use ffdshow for videos no matter what? Because I have my PC set to use CoreAVC for h264 videos and ffdshow disabled for that codec, and before this update h264 videos ran fine (exactly the same) inside and outside of Gameex, but after the update they run poorly in Gameex, but still run fine outside of it.

Basically, no. To tell if its using FFDSHOW set it display the output stats on the video and see if if it displayed on the video.

Which version did you upgrade from?

The only thing changed in most recent versions is the frameskipping is toned down a bit. You can try turning off vsync and see if that makes a difference.
