The best way to put PC games in GameEx is to create a directory that contains links to the games (.lnk files). Then create an emulator that looks in that directory for "roms" with the .lnk extension. There are 2 ways to clean up the list so it looks nice.

1) Name the link what you want to see displayed so instead of "mk2.lnk" call it "Mortal Kombat II.lnk".

2) Create a Map file that associates a rom name to a pretty name. Search for Map file on the forum and you should find at least one good thread. I remember one from 3 or 4 months back that had some nice examples. There should be quite a few map files you can examine in the GameEx directory structure as well.

As for other games, there are quite a few non-arcade games listed in this thread.

Sorry I havnt got a clue how to create a .lnk file or a map file

Can you quickly create one for me for outrun (the .exe is OR2006C2C.exe) and its installed in G:\Emulation\PC Games\Outrun Coast to Coast

I can't create a link file, but you can. I should have called them shortcuts though. Just right click the exe and select copy. Then go to the folder where you want to have GameEx find the games and right click -> paste shortcut. Then proceed with step 1 and rename it however you want.

So, first copy

C:\Program Files\<outrundirectory>\OR2006C2C.exe

then past a shortcut to it to

G:\Emulation\PC Games\

which will create a file called

G:\Emulation\PC Games\Shortcut to OR2006C2C.exe

then rename it to

G:\Emulation\PC Games\Outrun Coast to Coast.lnk

Then in GameEx, you need to set up an emulator properly. I was going to explain it, but I think it might be easier to just give you a setup to import. Hopefully this is correct. Just remove the '.txt' from the end and using the advanced configuration tool import it.

a .lnk file is just a shortcut just right click the exe file you would like to use create shortcut the just copy the shortcut you've just made to a folder for eg pc_games (in rom path set it to your new folder eg c:/pc_games set the rom filter to *.lnk set the command line to "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

so

1 rom path = c:/pc_games

2 rom filter = *.lnk

3 command line = "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

hope this helps

ps dont forget to rename the shortcut (to make them look nice )

edit bkenobi to quick you must have been done when i was still typing

Oh, after looking at wobbly's post, the config I uploaded won't work without a quick edit. You will need to set the command line to "[RomPath]\[RomFile]". Not only did I forget the rompath part, but I also forgot the quotes! :o

So...

I have a folder called "D:\PC Emulation\Shortcuts"

In that folder I have a shortcut called "Outrun Coast to Coast.lnk"

Which when I double click the game loads fine

The game main game is in a floder called D:\PC Emulation\OutRun2006 Coast 2 Coast

But I still cant get it to load GAMEEX says "NO GAMES FOUND"

Is the file really named "Outrun Coast to Coast.lnk.lnk"? It looks like your setup might need some tweaking. Can you upload your setup for that emulator so we can take a look?

Could it be that the extension is there twice?

You have:

"D:\PC Emulation\Shortcuts\Outrun Coast to Coast.lnk.lnk"

Should be:

"D:\PC Emulation\Shortcuts\Outrun Coast to Coast.lnk"
