Yes, but it's a bit more complicated than with XP. In XP, you can simply shell out the machine using InstantSheller. In Vista, you will have to go through and edit stuff in the registry. If you do that, then the machine won't start up Windows, it will use GameEx instead.

The alternative is to just put GameEx in the startup folder. This will give you the same effect but won't be quite as slick.

Here's a link to the shelling guide on the GameEx homepage. It includes a link to download InstantSheller as well as guides for using it and doing the process manually.

1. If it is a HTPC that will just do GameEx, you can use Instant Sheller (google it), it works well. It will remove the desktop and keep gameex.

2. If your computer is used for other stuff, you can just copy the GameEx shortcut into the Start\program\Startup folder.

Yeah, no problem. If you replace the shell application with GameEx, you won't see windows. If you exit GameEx without shutting down, you will see the background (set to black) and nothing more. If you then hit ctl-alt-del and start a new process of explorer, you will be back in windows. You can then do anything you would have done booting it up normally.
