Hey I just bought a nice dream authentics cabinate.

http://www.dreamauthentics.com/product_page_2_ex.html

I have a problem finding the folder in which to put new roms. I find about 4 different roms and games folders and im not sure where the right one is. If someone knows how DA sets up the computer I would be glad to know. Also im not sure how to add more emulators? Do I use the built in Gameex emulator download program? Any help would be great...Thanks!

The DA gameex install is the same as you get here..

I wouldnt use the D/l feature to grab the emus... As the emus are out of date.

Can you be more specific on the emus you want to set up.

In a nutshell you launch the advance config.. Goto a blank emu slot.

Fill in the path info

Emu path-- where the emu is

Rom path-- maybe c:\emulators\nes\

Rom filter = *.zip -- this would assumme your roms are in zip files in the above directory

Command ==emulator.exe "[rompath]/[romfile]" ( this calls the emu.exe "c:\emulators\nes\mario.zip" eg the path and file

give it a title and your set...

chances are with a search you can d/l a working config from here.

Otherwise tell us what your setting up and we can give you a config..

Actually im trying to get Mame roms going. It seems that DA doesnt even use Mame? They use like anthologies and games run from EXEs I think. Also in the advanced setup there is an option under disable and enable menu that says "Disable MAME = Yes" But when I change this to no then gameex wont run. Any help?

Post your gameex log when it fails to woirk and we can tell you whats up.

BTW: DA doesnt include mame with ROMS as DA doesnt hold licneces for distributing such titles. It would also promote piracy

Ok well looking through my log it seems MAME wasnt even installed. After downloading and putting it on my machine everything seems to be working. Until it asks me to update my game list. I say ok and leave it there. 20 minutes later its not done! Should it take this long or is something wrong? also it has a seperate menu for MAME than it does my other arcade games. Is it possible to mesh these two together? And also MAME displays every rom that is avaliable even though I dont have them. How do I have it only display ones I have?

You need to adjust your filter settings. You probably have it set to not filter anything.

You can't easily get all games in a single list. There are ways around it, but they are a bit complicated.

setup wizard -> search -> type "filter" and hit enter -> select any appropriate looking page(s) and you should find it pretty quickly. I don't have GameEx installed on this machine or I could have given the exact page name.

Please note that there are 2 setup programs.

1) Advanced Config

2) Setup Wizard

Ok so I got mame running and everything. But now I run a game and the controls are messed up. I tried launching mame on its own (command line version) but I couldnt figure out which button is select. Can someone help me change the controls?

That doesnt work for me. My joystick is setup so that it presses a keyboard button whenever I hit a joystick button. For example player 1 button 1 hits the keyboard button 7. Does that change anything?

I think your unaware of the way these things work sometimes... You see while you do own a nice joystick the internal parts are connected to a keyboard encoder... So while your pressing a button on the cpanel its really sending a keystroke.

So lets assume when you press buttons coin and p1 start.... That may send 5 and 1

Lets also assume you want to exit mame using that key combo.

you would launch MAME Press TAB (see your manual about attaching a keyboard) and goto p1 controls

Select a coltrol press Enter then the button on your cpanel that you want to map it to.

I understand how it works. I even gave you an example of how it works in a earlier post of mine. I understand that its hitting a keystroke. I have a keyboard attached already and when I hit TAB on that keyboard it didnt open up any control configure menu. Also I was opening a game through Gameex if that changes anything.

Ok then it could be an issue with the way mame supports multiple keyboards.. What kind of keyboard encoder does DA use. IPAC maybe? If so get the reprogram utility and add a TAB key.

Thats the only thing I can think of for a quick fix.
