I'm setting up GameEx from scratch and was just wondering, do I still need to point my Zinc & Daphne EXE towards the Loader.EXE or in the newer version of GameEx do I simply point towards the Zinc.EXE & Daphne.EXE?

Thanks

Zinc is built in so that as long as you have the paths correct (and everything set up so it works outside of GameEx) it will work.

Daphne requires that you have all the framefiles and such set up correctly as well as using the correct command line for each game. You can use the Daphne Loader to figure out what the command line needs to be and then use that in GameEx.

Thanks for the response but you didn't really answer my question. I've setup GameEx before approximately a year or so ago. I remember that in the Zinc & Daphne setup you needed to point towards a Loader and not the actual EXE it's self. Is this still the case?

Update > Yes, I do point towards the Loaders for my EXE in the setup.

there is no loader for daphne.. Gameex uses DAPHNE.exe

So you have been mistaken... Bkenobi is correct. He has also been using gameex for over a year and would remember such a feature.

Zinc has built in support as long as you configure gameex to use ZINC and point to the location. Then update your games list again.

Launch daphne loader... Get it going there... Look at the command its using then plug it into gameex.

There is a section in the gameex advance config for daphne that has all parts spelled out.. Look at the samples and edit from there.

Thanks I have both Daphne & Zinc working.

Update --> I thought I had 'em both working but now I'm not so sure about Zinc. Could someone please point me towards some sort of instruction on how to correctly get Zinc to work in GameEx using a wrapper. I'm really lost and have been searching, googeling and reading old threads to the point that my head is numb and I'm still not sure what to do.

Please heeeeelp!!!

Thank you. :)

Yeah, that's what I was looking for, I just couldn't find it!

Hi, thanks for the links but what exactly am I supposed to do with the Zinc bat files??

Posted

The batch files contain the command used to launch a game through Zinc. What you need to do is set up an emulator using the ini provided in the thread and make sure the rompath is set to wherever you put the batch files. Also, make sure that the batch files run on their own prior to trying in GameEx.

...

I just looked at the setup Brian uploaded and didn't realize it was the complete zinc setup! So, what you need to do is put that wherever you want. Then, get the controls working correctly in the games (winterblast if necessary). Then use the setup (or ini if it were saved in an ini file) to configure GameEx. It's explained in that thread.
