hia all

just tryed house of the dead game usein me trackball its not bad but when it comes to

reloading your gun there is no way of shooting of the screen.

is there a way around this or will i have to get a lightgun to play this game.

if i do need a lightgun how hard is it to setup ie... with gameex and a jamma-cab

There may be a button you can assign. I don't think HOTD has that button though, so I think you would have to do it the hard way.

Guns are no harder to set up than the trackball was. The problem is getting them to work in Windows first. If you can get them to work as a mouse, you are golden!

That's something that has been covered at BYOAC before. I think it might be possible, but it requires building a circuit of some kind. I don't remember the details, but I'm sure if you find the thread over there, you could draw some useful conclusions.

Just throwing in my 2 cents... A brand new 'actual' light gun from a original arcade are usually pretty expensive. I know HAPP makes them but there going to be around the $100.00+ range. I bought two act lab (used) light guns for that price. Im having a lot of difficulty trying to calibrate them, but unless you know a lot about wire circut's I would assume calibrating the guns are no where near as hard as re-wiring a arcade gun.

That's a big part of the problem with using actual acrade guns. The guns they used on actual arcades were designed to work on arcade monitors. I don't know what zx12rcarl is running for his display, but that could be an issue. I use a TV in one cabinet and a PC CRT in the other, but I know there are all kinds of displays people use for running MAME (Arcade monitor, TV, PC CRT, PC LCD, LCD TV, Rear Projection TV, Projectors, Plasma TV, etc.). One of the main reasons that the LCD TopGun is a popular choice is that it works on any of these whereas most lightguns will only work with the first 3 (Arcade Monitor, TV, PC CRT).

It may be possible to wire up a pair of original arcade light guns to work, but it's likely only going to work on the first 3 (or maybe only the first one).

in and sells em thats why i was thinkin of gettin 1 or 2 guns from him and putin on my cab

to get em workin and so on.

have to think a bit more about it.

but hay thanx for your help maybe some time i will give it a try!
