update mame list

just a quick question.

i downloaded the model 2 emulator and wanted to try out some roms. after finding out that i need the file model2.zip in my mame rom dir the games worked inside model 2 gui. but in gameex i don't have any games under the model 2 category.

how do i update my mame list? I have all necessary roms in the right places. i guess they haven't been recognised because model2.zip was missing. i also enabled the option to display non working games or isn't this even necessary?

First, Model2 is working outside of GameEx, correct? If so, then you just need to set the paths and enable it in GameEx with the setup wizard or advanced config tool. Either way, it doesn't require changing your filter settings at all. Once you finish setting things up, you will have to update your list though.

Its the last option on the mame start page.. Not the game list page.

You may need to scroll all the way down.

Youll see 2 player games , cps games, and the other genres.

i have flat menus... can i enable this feature in advanced mame options or is there another way to update?

I think you can turn off update list. If you have it turned off, then it would be tough to update, obviously. GameEx usually asks me to update after I make changes, so that may get turned off when you disable "display update" also.

it asked me last time after updating from 0.125 to 0.126

i will put in another mame.exe and hopefully receive the question then again!

a bit complicated (i thought there would be a key combination or something) but this will work. thanks for your comments though!!

It's not complicated if you have the item in the list turned on. I suppose if you want to update the list without having the item, you could add a feature request to have a key combo. On the other hand, there is a command line parameter that you can use to update the list. I don't recall what it is off the top of my head though.
