Brian I don't mind an Elvira one either, but it really needs to be a shot of the full pinball machine preferably with a plain background. Also that pic is a bit blurry but mainly I don't think it would look any good cut out.

I am collecting the graphics out of this thread that I like and will cut them out when I'm in the mood.

I did the Elvira one, had to use a bit of the clone tool to get out those crease marks but it came out okay.

Well we arent planning on doing a theme for everygame. But why not for the favorates... Maybe after time there will be quite a few.

I actually used the back glass and I cut the adams family logo from the flyer. It looks pretty convincing huh

I know there are probably a few of people planning on adding support for HS themes in other FE's. I was thinking it would be quite easy to write a converter for GameEx, all it would have to do it render the layout and "flatten" it into a background image. Maybe something for the future, but for this I was going to concentrate on layouts for each system. I think if I do make some per game layouts I will do them in HS format so they can benefit as well then have a converter to convert them to GameEx format. That way it's not a one way street, were sharing graphics so to speak.

I found a great site with hi-res images of Sega characters but I find it hard to find ones for some of the other systems.

I realy dont see themes being hard to come by and everyone learns and gets ideas from each other . It is going to blow up.

between your project,HS.. maximus arcade may even get a face lift. I dont see it being an issue.

Most FE are text driven so its diffrent and very easy on the eyes.

Im very excited about all this.. Pcs are so powerfull it has can along way from using arcadeos on dos using a p450..

The possabilitys are endless

Not that text drivin is bad. It allows a far a very wide range of configs and gamelists.

We all know what a gameex fanboy Iam as are 98% of us.

Okay I edited the first post to show the characters I'm looking for marked with (*) and some are still needing suggestions. So if you want to help with this then finding character and hardware graphics at 512 x 512 or higher res or make a suggestion. Obviously it's easy to suggest a character, hard to find one so it's much more help finding the graphics.

I don't want suggestions that are your personal favourites but that were the most popular games/characters for the system to represent it.

I was going to suggest the likes of California games for '64 but no recognisable characters in that, nice legs on the cover though.

Well you can never go wrong with the game mascots. With that said its sometimes hard to pin one down..

Like gameboy for instance. I remember Pokemon being the most popular for the GB..

That game is hella old and wouldnt be a bad choice for any of the gameboy handhelds.

Usually a quick google of top 10 *insert console name here* games will yeild good results

Look at a few of those then pick the similar games to make your choice from.

I have found a few characters searching Google that way but I guess the main problem is finding the graphics. I do have a Pikachu already cut out actually, just haven't found a system for it yet. I thought Tetris would be better suited for GB but I think Pokemon graphics would look nicer actually.

Its funny you should say that becuse Tetris was the first thought of mine but I dismissed it as pokemon was a prettier choice of graphic.

But while it was popular it was released toward the end of the console life cycle. Tetris probably is the better choice.

However Gameboy color spawn about 10 pokemon carts.. So its probably best suited for that.

Gameboy advance had Zelda minish cap..(I played that all the way through) and DS has a mean mario kart.

Thanks Flash, but Sonic graphics are the easiest to find. I found a website with heaps of hires pics of Sonic and friends, but thanks anyway! Try and find hires stuff of some of the classic arcade characters. Heh it's near on impossible!

had a look for manic miner.. nothing unless you want the telephone from the advert. it is hires. When you think about it, have you ever seen a picture of manic miner... He was never on cassette covers and in JSW covers his head was down a toilet.

You could use an image from ingame expanded and textured in photoshop i suppose. i just cannot think of anything more iconic on the spectrum.
