A couple of games with mame have a slight stutter in the sound. I am using onboard sound right now, if i were to buy a better sound card, but not anything very expensive, would it help the performance of my computer running the games?

thanks

Not really, it's usually display settings that cause sound stuttering. Try turning off triple buffering and turn on Direct3D rendering if you haven't already. Taking some of the rending to the graphics card can take some of the pressure off the CPU which is what Mame uses the most. What are your system specs including video card?

Did you give those two options a try?

Open up your mame.ini (if you don't have one run "mame -cc" on the command line to create one. Open it up then turn off triple buffering and enable d3d rendering.

So it should have these options set like so:

triplebuffer 0
video d3d

triple buffering was disabled and d3d was enabled, but for the hell of it i tried playing KI and KI2 both run perfect without any lag, if i run those games perfect shouldnt i be able to run simpsons bowling and blitz?

NFL Blitz? No, that game runs really slow on most machines short of a quad core box. I think all seattle based games are a problem. Actually, pretty much all CHD based games don't run that well either.

Oh ok well I can get most of the chd based games to work so I thought I could get blitz to work
