GameEx 4.93 Crashing - First Time User

Recommended Posts

Posted

Installed on a fresh MCE2005 system. Tried both the configuration app and quick config app. Checked GameEx.ini file, mediacenter string is set to 2.

The only thing that sticks out in the log to me is the "invalid directory" comments. I chose these directories through the GameEx interface, they are correct. Is running Mame32 from a network share not supported? I tried altenate path formats also (\\server\share), no luck, same error.

Any help would be appreciated, first time installing/running this app.

I mapped my share to a drive letter first. Works fine that way. So many things have problems without a drive mapping.

Yes, the Mame share is on z:, the drive was mapped prior to installing GameEx. I run the exe from there to keep the high scores/settings in tact, that way I can play from any machine in the house. Mame32 runs fine alone as well, have always used z: designation for the mame share. I might try installing GameEx on another machine to see if the problem comes up again, but further help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did the latest version fix it? Please let us know

Yes sir it did, thank you very much! Installed over the previous version and everything worked fine.

I did notice one issue I was able to fix. GameEx didn't like it if Mame32.exe was at the root of my shared drive. Once I put MAME one directory in (z:\mame32\mame32.exe as opposed to z:\mame32.exe) I stopped getting the invalid directory errors and everything worked fine. Maybe something to look at when you have time, not a very big issue.

Also, I grabbed CrashTests(sp?) MNG torrent- WOW! Very cool addition to GameEx. I'll have to up some pics of my cab one of these days, everything is running smooth.
