activate the option paging in gameex

then you have to press a certain button while scrolling and it will jump through pages

Go into your key config or button config, depending if you are using a keyboard or gamepad device. In there it will list your page key. Hold that down while you move the stick. UD is alpha page and LR is screen page. ( or visa versa ) I am at work right now and cant check.

On another note, one of the things I have been meaning to do is use Xpadder or another macro tools to send [pagekey] UD LR combos when using joystick 2. It is easier for guests to remember than which button to hold.

Eerrrmm, maybe I misunderstood your question, but can't you just jump one page at a time with the PgDn and PgUp keys? map these to your gamepad with xpadder and you're set.

Edit:sorry, just read Stub's answer, it's much easier..forget my post......

Furthermore you can immediately jump to another part of the list by typing a letter of the alphabet? (when you type "e" it immediately jumps to the first title with an e). You can reach any title you want within a couple of seconds using these two tricks..

Ok, I didn't explain myself fully. I don't want to use a keyboard - only joystick and buttons.

I read in the FAQ if using IPAC its Button 1 + left or right. What is button 1? How do I map it?

Thanks.

I think it's already been explained, but I'll post an answer anyway...

In short, you can't page by just pressing right with your joystick directly. There is paging built into GameEx (both single page and by letter), but it is designed to be used as a combination of pressing the paging key and the joystick direction. If you want to set up your system so that it pages by just pressing the right/left direction, you can either use XPadder or you can write a script in AHK, AI, etc. that will turn the right/left joystick presses into PgUp/PgDn keyboard inputs (or paging key + arrow key if you prefer).

I personally wouldn't do that unless you are using the GameLauncher mode since you will lose the capability to use the filtering menus. But, that's just my opinion...

Thanks. Can you look at what I posted above? Is there a way for me to map my ipac so I can hold down a button and hit right/left? Is this the shift thing?

OK, the IPAC is a Keyboard encoder, not a gamepad encoder. Keep that in mind when dealing with it.

I just checked, the default key seems to be question mark -?- . If you want to change the key used go into GameEx setup, Keyboard input, enable custom, and set it to whatever you want. Or you could program the ipac to gen whatever keystroke you want.

Hi, thanks for your help. Default key for button 1? Still not 100% clear. Where is keyboard input in gameex?

I can program the ipac no problem but i dont understand what i need to do - generate what keystroke and why?

I've looked and cant find anything

I know this is a little late but in case anyone is looking for said answer (as I was, I forgot how to do Aplha paging), Button 1 is the first button. I.E. the Fire button in many games. It corresponds to Left Control on the IPac in the IPac's default mapping for MAME. The button usually most often used on an arcade machine. The button that would be considered the first of your buttons associated with player 1. In a six button layout it is usually the top one to the left closest to the joystick for player 1. Hold that button down and move the joystick up and down for page by page or left and right for letter by letter.

It's late but hope that helps someone.
