What does everyone use for key config in MAME? ZSNES? FUSION

I'm stuggling to decide on a key configuration for my ipac (1P start, 2P start, 1P credit, 2P credit, 2 x 6 player buttons). I'm using MAME, ZSNES, and FUSION.

I've decided on 1,2,3,4 for the player start and credit buttons, but not sure on joytsicks and player buttons.

Does everyone use a set config? Are there optimium configs? Safe configs? Buttons to avoid etc?

Would appreciate any advice.

Many people just use the default MAME config for all emulators whenever possible. I personally don't like the idea of using hotkey buttons (CTRL, SHIFT, ALT, SPACE, TAB, ENTER, BACKSPACE) in my configs just to make sure that Windows doesn't think it should step in, so I change them to a custom set.

What about snes? For example, on a 6 button arcade layout, for ease of reach purposes, which buttons would you assign for A, B, X, Y, L and R?

I'm having trouble settling on a good layout. Would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Alot depends on the layout of your c-panel.

Snes game pad

L R

yx

ba

Cpanel buttons

123

456

78

could be

yxL

baR

coin= select

p1 start= start
