There are some games that wont load up under GameEx because they have a disclaimer screen about " enter ok if you own the game or enter to leave". and this just causes GameEx to shut it down and go back to the GameEx screen. I have tried most everything and still cant get them to play. What is the fix or is there roms out there without the nag screen?

Yes, the MAME ones. Anytime they have the screen that pops up ask if you own the original game then GameEx will just go black then go back to the game select screen.

This could be cuz the game is nonworking or cuz your version of roms doesn't match your version of mame. Please give more info as to what version of roms and mame you are using. Also verify they run outside of GameEx.

Yes. they run fine in mame and mame32. It is just some of the roms that ask this question before they start and it is these that cause the problem with GameEx.

Like I said, what roms? If you provide specifics, perhaps someone can try it on another machine so we can work out the difference in your config and a working one...

Well there are several of them. Centipede(bootleg) and the revision 1 and 2 is a good example. When loaded with mame32 it come up with the disclaimer about owning the rom and wants you to hit enter if you dont, to exit, or hit OK to procede if you do own it. Well when you try and run it with GameEx it goes black then 10 seconds later returns to the GameEx screen. I will list other later this eveaning when I get home. Thanks for the help as this is going into a cabinete I have purchased.

Use the mame compiler at the top of the forum (sticky) Download the Mame souce... Download or use the included DIFF patch.

This will remove ALL warning/nag screens and enable high score support. Just dont go crying to mamedev about a game not working and you cannot see that it doesnt work because the game isnt supported.

Also. It only asks you 1 time if you own the ROM. the next time you load it wont ask you.. It may say the rom is imperfect and has missing sound etc... But that is diffrent.

And bumping your thread 2 hours after your initial post isn't exactly the best way to go about getting the info you need. Any searchs regarding Nag screens or reading the FAQ thread would yeild that answer.

Alot of us here have jobs/ other things going on. Be patient.

Also... Look at the RunItGame.bat. It records the last command gameex used to launch the game... Verify IT works from the command prompt. Usually Gameex will bring you to that same screen... So if it is just going blank it could be calling a Rom you dont have. Turn on Verify roms and Show only existing Roms.. Update your game list again.

For all we know you may have an incomplete rom set.

Oh yeah... Welcome to the forum

I dont understand why mame will play these roms but GameEx using mame wont. I have used the recompiled versions of mame to no avail.

You will find the bat in the install directory in the DATA folder

i do have the roms, thats how I am verifying that they work through mame32. I will look at the run file as you suggest.

Well you may have the parent rom but may be trying to run a clone or something... The bat should give more insight.

I think I am about to get this thing worked out. The rom sets I have are older ones which work fine only on Mame32 but not when trying to load them in GameEx. So I have downloaded the newer Rom set in hopes that this will fix the problem. I also came across this little problem, easiely fixed but it is wierd. I have two different Mame32 version in the same folder so I name one Mame32 the other Mame34 If I tell GameEx to use Mame 32 all the roms show up, change the path to Mame34, then It no work. But rename mame34 to mame32 and tell it to use mame32 and all the roms show back up? WEIRD! Anyways not a problem..Now I just have to wait on my cabinate!!!
