Situation:

Game = Puzzle Quest. It's a standalone game, not a steam app. There's no CD to mount, and there's no separate launch executable. It's just puzzlequest.exe. I've even checked the system processes while the game is running to make sure it's not also launching some other executable, but it's not.

System=PC hooked up to a standard-def TV.

Game runs fine on the TV outside of GameEx, and is totally playable aside from the text being a bit tiny, but I never read that stuff in this game anyway (I came for the puzzles, not the story).

In GameEx when I try to launch it it just goes to black screen for half a second and then right back to the menu. I've tried the "Show Desktop" setting both possible ways, same result.

Any ideas? Anyone have this game? Is there a log where I can check out what's going on?

Post your config. :)

Try running "Run Last Game.bat" outside of GameEx. If it doesn't work, check that the command line seems appropriate. Either way, this is a good place to start.

I don't seem to have this .bat file. Searched all .bat files on my hdd and couldn't find it.

It is located in C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\runitgame.bat

There should also be a shortcut in your Startmenu - Gameex - Run Last Game

I'm sad to report that this returned the same result. Black screen... back to menu.

It should be:

="[rompath]\[romfile]"

Not:

="[rompath]/[romfile]"

Add that to my ratio Brian... :lol:

Brian actually figured that out too in a private message. All fixed! Thanks guys.

Actually it was that keith missed the Quotes somehow,

Im not 100% sure the forward slash would have had an adverse effect. Sometimes it does. :)
