Game list

I updated my game list within Gameex and my list went down from 2,500 games down to 300. I went into config and opened up everything. I even allowed non-working games and updated the list again and still only like 400 games.

What am I doing wrong? I haven't changed the Rom folder or anything like that. I am sure this is a simple fix and something obvious I am overlooking.

First question is, did you update the version of MAME from a really old version to a current one? With all the filters turned off, this shouldn't be the problem, but it's something that is a common problem with verify roms turned on. If this is the case, you should run ClrMAMEPro to build a set that works with the current version of MAME you are running or, better yet, acquire a current romset.

Id also be interested to see the gameex.ini to take a looksey at your filters..

A quick sidenote I believe mamdev broke the listxml in recent u builds so that maybe the cause.

OK, so that sounds like it could be the cause since I bought my romset with version 1.22. If I turn verify romset off then rebuild the gamelist it should work because all of the games were working with 1.25 prior to updating the list.

Here is a question. If all of the games were working (and do work with mameui32) what is the problem with the roms? Is there a subtle thing wrong with them that I just don't see? This has always been somewhat confusing to me.

Also, where do I find clrMAMEPro and what exactly does it do to the roms to "fix" them for the new version?

Here is my gameex.ini. I only come up with 390 games even when I turn verify ROMS off and reupdate the list.

BTW, I was just too lazy to change the file folder location, all of the roms are still in C:\games\Mame32UI v. 123\roms even though I am running v125u4.

Like I said in my last post, all of my Roms work in mameui32 and they all appeared before I decided to update my game list like a knucklehead.

Please don't worry about it. Im glad your Mame list is back up to par. We thrive on helping and keeping the community strong and friendly. Please if you have ANY problems don't hesitsate to bring them up... We really learn off each other.

Most of us are regulars here and our humor is slighy askew at times.

Recently, in another thread, Bkenobi helped someone else, and whoever it was said "thanks Ben". Shaunopp jumped in and said "How do you know it's Ben? How do you know it's not Bob?" I was referring to that, and your reference to Obi Wan.

I wouldn't want you to get the impression that you were being flamed, or that I thought you were stupid, or anything like that. I HATE sites who act as if they know everything, because in reality everyone can contribute, we all have specialized knowledge. So Stick around, read every new post, and you'll start picking up on all the little jokes that run through the forum.

Also, you weren't far off in referring to Bkenobi as Obi Wan...He and Brian both know alot about Gameex...Their correct/incorrect answer ratio is much higher than mine.

The only thing I wonder is why Brian thinks I was taking a shot at him...
