NEWS: GameEx 9.33 Released

Album and DVD artwork downloading is working again. It needed to be rewritten to work with Amazon's latest API as the older API is no longer active

In addition album artwork is also now downloaded when GameEx starts playing a new track and for each track played as well as just downloading when viewing a track or album in the list in the Jukebox

Fixes Gamelauncher theme not loading

Minor fixes to the fix to emulator list feature

Theres a new quality setting for eBooks and comics, giving the opporutinity to use a normal quality setting and have them load up faster

3D menu transitions can now be used on Vista and with version three themes

An item has been added to the FAQ which explains what to do if your not getting SPDIF passthrough when playing DVDs

wow just tryed the 9.34. and im still geting the GameEx has encountered a problem and needs to close

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, gameex automaticly updated and EVERYTHING is gone!!! All my configs, 33 emulator configs gone and all my settings etc, months of work for me, plz tell me there is a way to get them back!

Don't panic, make a backup of GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx.ini and GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini. Then check for your configs inside these files under [Emulator_1], [Emulator_2] ... etc.

The GameEx.ini file contains all your configs, so if they have somehow disappeared from there, then try the upgrade backup. Just make sure you back these files up before you start playing around.

phew problem solved, did a system restore to when i started up my cab, bout 2mins before update and all working again. Only did a update thou tom, maybe i messed up something then

It does happen Tom. I allowed an auto update a while ago (around 9.2x) and when completed most of my emulators had vanished? When using Advanced Config, next-ing to the emulator configs; there were loads of spaces where the emus used to be! I tried removing gamex.ini and renaming gamex install backup ini, but this made things worse. I had luckily exported most of my emu configs and imported them back.

Since then, i have turned off auto-update and have set 'file backup manager' to auto backup to an external drive once a week (a system that I strongly advise all GameEx users to do - not because of bugs in gameex or windows, but also because HD's do DIE!).

Great news on 3 updates in as many minutes (only joshing )

Look forward to trying it when i get home, specially the 3d vista bit..

Had a problem with 9.36. It isn't a huge deal but I thought I would throw it up here. My secondary display which shows the artwork files and such is now for some reason configured on my desktop of my primary display. I didn't have time to fix it but I am sure it is a simple solution.

Also, when will we get a chance to edit/create some V3 themes? I love the new features!

Are you talking about GameExtender?

All I can say is V4 themes will be skinnable V3 themes, and it will happen, but I dont like to set deadlines, as it makes things less fun.

Still having problems with GameEX locking up with version 9.36. Alt-Tab wont work and i have to reboot. On reboot my desktop is black for some reason. I haven't been able to get this FE working correctly this past month

I was thinking about this, and wondered if you had the screensaver setting to turn off the display on? If its not that Can you provide full detail and files.

I'm sorry. You're right. I changed that option about a week or so ago because my jukebox playlist kept getting interupted by the mame screensaver. I guess i didn't really look at the alternative option (turn monitor off) and just assumed that it would stop the mame screensaver from kicking in. While we're on the subject - Do you think you could provide another alternative in the screensaver setting ? Would it be possible to have like your normal windows type screensaver (with the graphic being used from the 'Please Wait' screen) to kick in but keep the jukebox play uninterrupted ? Also, i'm using the V3 media centre theme and i'm running at 1024x768. The horizontal menu is offset to the right and i can only see the 'E' of the 'Exit' Option but there seems to be enough space to fit the horizontal menu on the screen if it was moved back to the left. Am i doing something wrong ?
